HsinChu

Last semester, my classmates and I went to HsinChu to do our project for English class. We visited many places and saw many special things there, especially for the architectures. The city government made much effort to preserve them.
Actually, I had lived in HsinChu for four years. Hence, this is a place that I am familiar with. People call this city as wind city because of its big wind. For example, sometimes the whole row of motorcycles might be blew down by wind. However, people lived in HsinChu use the wind to make a kind of delicious rice flours.
The city is famous for the HsinChu science park. There are many tech companies standing here and output many high-tech products, which earn lots of money from foreign countries and improve our economic development.

The situation of Myopia in Taiwan

The situation of Myopia in Taiwan
Myopia is one kind of eyes impairment, which is very general in Taiwan, especially for students. By the statistics of Department of Health, Executive Yuan, there are approximately 84% of senior high students who have myopia. The factors causing myopia might be categorized into gene and use of eyes improperly.
If our ciliary muscle is over stretched, it might not be recovered to the original situation, which is the reason why myopia is caused. Furthermore, our eyeballs will change the shape to adapt this condition, which makes the eyeballs too long and the exact view can’t be focus on the retina.
Gene is a reason why myopia is caused. There is a gene, PAX6, involving the growth of the eye. According to a British researcher, Dr. Hammond, the gene PAX6 has close relation with the fundamental eye development (Hammond, 2004). Dr. Hammond and his colleagues compare 211 twins at their genetic makeup and found this evidence. Additionally, for example, they put gene PAX6 on the leg of a fruit fly and eye developed onto that leg! However, it is not a mutation. It is a variation. If the gene over express, the eyeball won’t stop growing until the distance of focus is beyond the normal distance.
Using of eyes is another important factor to cause myopia. Especially for most people, this factor might be more dominant. In the modern life, people spent more and more time in multimedia, which makes eyes overloaded. For students, they have to study harder to acquire more knowledge and information. They use their eyes to read , and they may even search information on the web or through other kinds of media. Besides studying, in the leisure time, they use their eyes on TV or computer for online games, websites, or chatting. In conclusion, the eyes rarely take a break and work too much. According to Dr. Liang, over-using eyes on the computer might make eye tiring, dry, sore, filled with blood and high-pressure (Liang, 2007).It is a urging situation to reduce the percentage of students with myopia. Because there are too many students having myopia in Taiwan .Myopia not only make life inconvenient, but also cause other diseases. Therefore, we should change our mind and habits to use our eyes properly. It will lead a good result for our health and better progress for our country.

ShiTan

The snow in May!
In the beginning of May, I went to ShiTan to see youtonghua and firebug. ShiTan is a town in MiaoLi county. In this place, youtonghua is everywhere. Mountains seem to be covered by snow, which is a funny view because it is in May. Especially when the flowers of youtonghua fell on the ground, those flowers made whole view more fantastic.
At nightfall, we waited for show of firebugs. At about seven, there were more and more firebugs showing in the mountain. I had never seen such many firebugs before, which made the mountain spark at night. It was too miraculous! There, firebugs seemed to be everywhere and we could even touch a firebug easily. Walking in the pathway of mountain, there were full of firebus by
both sides. I was moved by this kind of view because it is very difficult to see firebugs. How luck I was!! Therefore, to protect our environment from destructing is a emergent work for all of us.

GuKeng

GuKeng, It is the place to output coffee in Taiwan. We went to GuKeng in winter vacation and the place we visited is HuaShan.

There is a lake,Jian Lake and a very famous amusement park. .By the lake, there is a temple in Buddism. Standing by the lake made me peaceful and comfortable. It seemed that the time stopped counting and the space was freezing. I could touch myself in deep and thought more clearily due to the view in front of me.
Then we climed up to see the view of YunLin. That day was a misty day, which made YunLin more mysterious. From then on, this place was no more an agricultural county for me. It is truly a beautiful place for me.

LuKang

This winter, my classmates and I went to LuKang for a trip. It is a very special space with many traditional temples, streets, and architectures. Some of them have been there for one or two hundred years! Therefore, in LuKang, we seemed to trace back to a period we had not be born.
In LuKang, we visited the many famous temples, including Tienhou Temple and Lungshan Temple. Tienhou Temple is the most famous temple in LuKang. No matter when you go to
LuKang, it is always full of believer to pray and thank Matsu. And when we went to Lungshan Temple, it was in repairs for strength of architecture. However, we could still see many special characteristics in arcitecture for more than two hundred years.

We then walked in the old aisles. For example, one of them has 9 turns and another is in very narrow space. There are many old aisles in traditional form and gave people a way to go back to the old time. Of course we had this kind of sense indeed.

Free writing (From some people)

When I had free time, I always like to plan to a trip. Sometimes, if I found some interesting places on the web or on TV, I would collect information and made a plan to get the place. I really enjoy the traditional food. I usually look around the place first to find the restaurant which has the most customers, which may means the food may be the very taste the local people eat. But sometimes it turns out that it is just very famous, but not quite delicious. So I now change my way to find the restaurants. I will firstly try to find a native person who lives there, telling him to be my guide. Always, he would bring me to find some unique food, which I can hardly eat in the usual restaurant. Some of them taste good, while some of them taste “special.” All in all, it is the real way to find the local dished. One of the most unforgettable experience happened in Mexico. In a local restaurant, I drank a cup of pick juice teats like strawberry. However, I discovered that the juice was made from frog! No doubt that it is cool, so I drink it a lot, and add some juice of the bat, worm, even cockroach.
Sign…..finally, I have a stomach ache, and my stomach have born a lot of little frog and little cockroach.

COOL~~~~~
